Not the sight I wanted to wake up to this New Year's Eve, but it is winter. Snow and freezing rain predicted for most of the day and night here in Harrington Park, NJ. I hope people are smart enough not to drink and drive, especially in this bad weather. Here's to a great 2010 for all.

This is a pretty cool video put together by the Starbucks Love Project to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. On December 7, 2009 , people all around the world gathered in their home countries, 156 in all, to sing The Beatles "All You Need Is Love". A nice way to end 2009 and kick off 2010.

I was eating a slice of pizza in my car (from Rudy's in Closter, NJ) and noticed a flock of seagulls (at least I think that's what they were) gathering outside my car window. How did they know I was eating pizza? As soon as I rolled down my window, they all started to look at me with hunger in their eyes. I felt like Tippi Hedren from Alfred Hitchcock's THE BIRDS. I tossed out a chunk of pizza (Sicilian if you're wondering) and they loved it - except for one guy who kept sitting on the hood of my car. Maybe he was their leader? Maybe he had a big lunch and wasn't hungry?

Not a fun morning to drive to work in NYC. Got about 8 inches of snow in Harrington Park, NJ. Roads were mostly plowed, No salt or sand anywhere. My Subaru Forester did well in the snow, but even with AWD, it was slippery at times. Looks like Manhattan got more snow than I did at home. Did I mention how much I hate snow? By the time I got home around Noon, all the roads were salted and down to the blacktop. I was impressed how quickly NYC and the towns in NJ cleared the snow off the roads.

I believe this video takes place in Germany, so it offers further proof that people all over the world are basically stupid.
As his dumb wife shoots the video, this idiot father uses his baby as a toy to tease his pet doberman. I love how Dad switches between the ball and his baby's feet, which he happily places in the dog's jaws. Towards the end of the video, the dog snaps at the baby's face, but luckily misses.
If anyone understands German, I'd love to know what the wife is saying, as she gleefully videotapes this lunacy.
After this video became public, why wasn't that baby placed in protective custody and the parents arrested? If the baby was injured, the dog would be blamed and probably be killed. The parents would remain free to procreate and bring another living dog toy into the world.
