Prompter Bob

Not yet a complete waste of your time - but I'm working on it!

Hitler sings Sponge Bob Square Pants

(download)

Who cares about Iran, Iraq, North Korea or the economic crisis? The world is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sponge Bob Square Pants. We've all heard the goofy theme song, but have you ever heard the German version? It sounds a lot like Adolf Hitler (may he rot in hell forever) barking one of his infamous speeches. Today the ocean, tomorrow the world! BTW, in German it's Spongebob Schwammkopf.

iPhone app TimeLapse makes time fly

I was working on the CBS Evening News with Russ Mitchell this past Sunday (7/12/09) and made a little test video with an iPhone app called TimeLapse.  A total of 236 photos were automatically taken, one every 5 seconds. The photos were imported into QuickTime Pro, which created a 20 second video that shows the activity in the studio during the 30 minute broadcast.

WTF? Obama Chia Pet

(download)

I just saw a stupid commercial for Chia Obama. It is a real product. Not a joke or parody, although it could be.

iPhone Autostitch panorama: Harrington Park

I just created this panorama of one of the Little League fields in Harrington Park, NJ with my iPhone and the Autostitch app. 10 pictures were shot handheld using just the camera. I overlapped each shot a bit. Photos were then loaded into Autostitch, which took less than a minute to finish. I used Zipix Lite to auto correct the picture and CropForFree to trim the jaggy edges, which are created during the stitching process. Both these programs are free from the App Store.

Wendy's outta control control room

This is the new control room for the Wendy Williams Show. All the little screens are virtual displays which appear on the wall made of flat LCD screens. It's very Star Trek.

iPhone panorama

Autostitch is an amazing iPhone app that puts together a series of photos and turns them into a seamless panorama. This is a view of my backyard, as seen from my upper bathroom window. I think I took 7 pictures for this panorama. Autostitch is extremely friendly and easy to use. It costs $1.99 and it's worth every penny.

Giving Posterous a try

Sometimes writing and posting blog entries are a pain, especially when you're not in front of your computer.  Thanks to Andy Ihnatko, the technology columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times who is currently blogging his way through China, I've discovered Posterous (http://posterous.com).  It's claims to be a simple way to post stories, comments, pictures, audio, or music just by sending an email.  There's no login, no signup.  You just send your first post to post@posterous.com and they set everything up for you and will assign you a custom email address to send future postings. This might be the way to go since I like the idea of doing everything from my iPhone. This is my first post and if all goes well I will redirect prompterbob.com to my new Posterous site.  I know this is a bunch of techno-babble for most of you, but I think it's pretty cool.  Stay tuned.

How Paris Jackson saved her dad

Michael Jackson's farewell at the Staples Center was mostly a media hyped mess, as family and friends performed and pranced around his gold coffin. The one saving grace came when his 11 year old daughter Paris, standing next to her little brother Prince,  spoke to the audience and tearfully expressed her love for her father.  In that very brief moment, which I'm sure melted even the coldest of hearts,  the proclaimed "King of Pop" became just "Pop", a loving father, a dad. Thanks to Paris, Michael Jackson once again became a real person. It made me wonder that if Jackson didn't go through such great pains to hide and mask his children (and himself) from the world, things could have been very different.  He never understood that his kids were the keys to his salvation and his return to the real world.
